While growing up in Northumberland Luke became fascinated by the historic monuments, buildings and carvings that are found across the county.
After leaving school he trained as a stone conservator and worked on major restoration projects at Durham Cathedral and Rosslyn Chapel. He then, with the support of Historic Environment Scotland and an Award from the Heritage Crafts Association, went on to train as a stone carver, working in the U.K and mainland Europe before setting up his own workshop near Belford in 2018 and forming the business – The Northumbrian Stone Carver.
